Ça te dit ? - Do you feel like it? - Mot du jour

‘ça te dit’ is ‘it to you says’. It really means ‘do you feel like it?’

• « J’ai envie d’aller faire une rando du côté de Beaucaire. Ça te dit aussi ? »
  • I feel like going for a hike around Beaucaire. Do you feel like too?

If you add ‘quelque chose’ or rien du tout’, this expression changes its meaning.

1. “ça te dit quelque chose ?” means ‘does it look familiar?’, or ‘does it ring a bell?’, ‘it reminds you of something?’.
2. “ça ne me dit rien du tout” means ‘it doesn’t remind me of anything, it doesn’t ring a bell’

Let’s decline the pronoun:

ça me dit - I feel like it

ça ne me dit rien du tout - it doesn’t ring a bell

ça lui dit - She/He feels like it

ça leur dit quelque chose - it reminds them of something
